STERiJECT™ Ophthalmic VLDS Needle
Our ophthalmic-cleared, low-dead-space needle, built to give back what a standard hub holds onto.
VLDS is TSK's low-dead-space needle line, and the only one with FDA 510(k) clearance for ophthalmic use in the United States. A low-dead-space hub, ophthalmic cannula and secure luer-lock connection work together, with each production lot tested for USP <789> particulate compliance and to a bacterial endotoxin limit of 0.2 EU per device. Availability varies by product code and region.

Engineering
Designed to reduce medication retained at the needle connection after delivery. In bench testing, the VLDS hub retained 0.005 mL versus 0.042 mL for a tested conventional hub.
An enlarged internal diameter supports flow through fine-gauge configurations and can reduce the force required to move fluid through the cannula.
Full circumferential engagement with a compatible luer-lock syringe for a secure connection.
Rigid construction that resists hub deformation and needle movement under load.
Engineered for low penetration force; a proprietary coating supports glide and reduces vitreous drag.
Lot testing includes USP <789> particulate requirements and a bacterial endotoxin limit of 0.2 EU per device.

Externally threaded VLDS hub and ophthalmic cannula.
Quality
Every VLDS lot passes the same three checks before it ships.
Tested before release for USP <789> compliance.
Construction and handling assessed as a complete delivery system to manage droplet release.
Tested to a limit of 0.2 EU per device.

Performance evidence
Residual volume — 0.005 mL for the tested VLDS hub versus 0.042 mL for the tested conventional hub.
Penetration force — 33G STERiJECT ophthalmic needle showed a penetration force 0.014 N lower than the tested comparator.
Rigidity and flow — the tested 33G configuration showed a shorter bending distance and higher flow than its comparator.
Connection strength — 50 N pop-off force for the tested 34G configuration versus 39 N for its comparator.
These bench comparisons apply to the tested sizes, methods and comparators; they are not peer-reviewed clinical outcomes.
